About 2,100 Los Angeles Department of Water & Power customers were without power Friday morning in parts of Venice due to a failure of underground equipment, officials said.

A feeder cable problem in the 900 block of Lincoln Boulevard caused the outage and crews have been dispatched to fix it, said Terry Schneider, a spokeswoman for the LADWP.

Load dispatchers separately also have been working to restore power while the crews work on fixing the underground problem permanently, Schneider said.

It was estimated that power would be restored by 1:30 p.m. Friday.

Another 150 customers were without power in Venice due to a smaller outage centered near Washington Boulevard and Grayson Avenue, Schneider said. Power was reported out Friday morning in some homes in the Venice Canals.

(Editor’s Note: Updated at 9:26 a.m. to add more details and second outage from LADWP.)
