Pedestrian Struck and Killed in Venice by Hit-and-Run Driver
A pedestrian was struck and killed early Friday morning in Venice by a hit-and-run driver, authorities said.
An unidentified male was hit about midnight while crossing at the intersection of Venice and Lincoln boulevards, said Sgt. Ed Sun of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Pacific Division.
A dark vehicle that struck the man fled westbound on Venice Boulevard and made a right turn at Marian Place, police said.
A clerk at Day & Night Liquor on the southwest corner of the intersection said he heard a loud “boom” from behind the counter when the man was struck and customers rushed outside toward the intersection.
The victim’s body remained covered with a white sheet about 3 a.m. near the northwest corner of the intersection as the area remained cordoned off.
The case was being investigated by detectives with the LAPD’s West Traffic Division.
No further information was immediately available.
