Pineapple Express Storm Causes Power Outages in Venice
More than 500 homes in Venice lost electricity early Friday morning as the Pineapple Express storm system knocked out power throughout the region.
The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power in a statement said crews since 3 a.m. have restored power to more than 12,500 customers.
About 17,000 customers remained without power about 11 a.m. out of the utility’s 1.4 million electric customers.
There were 532 customers without power in Venice with the hardest hit neighborhood in the city being Los Feliz/Griffith Park with 4,852 customers without power.
Smaller outages of less than 500 customers also were reported throughout the city including nearby Del Rey.
There were 23,134 customers without power in Los Angles County due to the storm.
