Police Shoot and Kill Homeless Man in Venice
A homeless man was shot and killed by police in Venice on Tuesday night after he fought with a bouncer and officers, officials said.
The shooting occurred about 11:30 p.m. near the intersection of Pacific and Windward avenues after police received a radio call of a transient harassing passersby, said Officer Tony Im of the Los Angeles Police Department.
The suspect fought with a bouncer in front of a business and a physical altercation also occurred with officers responding from the LAPD’s Pacific Division, Im said.
During the altercation an officer involved shooting took place and the suspect was taken to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries, Im said.
Detectives from the LAPD’s Force Investigation Division were canvassing the area on Wednesday for surveillance videos and also contacting businesses for witnesses, Im said.
