Google Hosting Meeting Saturday Over Venice Expansion Plans...

Google will host a public meeting at its Venice campus Saturday to discuss its expansion plans. The meeting will be held at Google’s offices in the Frank Gehry-designed Binoculars Building at 340 Main Street from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Google has an interior remodel planned for the former Digital Domain space at 320 Hampton Drive. The Internet search giant applied in January for a permit from the city planning department for the project that also will require permission from the California Coastal Commission. Fire Department Offers Online Survey in Support of Bonin’s Tech Upgrade Motion...

An online survey has been created by the Los Angeles Fire Department in support of a public safety motion by City Councilman Mike Bonin to equip firefighters with tablet computers. Bonin, 46, introduced the FIRST-IN Master Plan motion to the City Council in early July in an attempt to tap into local technological resources to upgrade the fire department’s technology. The fire department has an upgrade planned for its 911 dispatch system, will be adding a GPS-based vehicle location system and its contract for the laptop computers used to record patient information also is up for renewal, according to Bonin’s motion.
